15th El Jadida Horse Show: Military History Directorate Organizes Historical ‘Horse Caring Under Reign of Sultan Moulay Ismail’ Exhibition

Rabat – Pursuant to the High Instructions of HM King Mohammed VI, Supreme Commander and Chief of the General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, may God Glorify Him, and as part of the Royal Armed Forces’ participation in the 15th edition of the El Jadida Horse Show, the Directorate of Military History is organizing, on October 1-6, 2024, a historical exhibition under the theme “The horse caring under the reign of Sultan Moulay Ismail”.

This exhibition aims to shed light on Sultan Moulay Ismail (1672 – 1727), through his imperial achievements and his interest in horses and cavalry in general, a press release from the FAR General Staff stated.

Cavalry units were also the main component of the units assigned by the Sultan to various bastions and Casbahs, newly built or restored with a view to securing the main trading routes of the Cherifian Empire. This is without forgetting the traditional missions of the Moroccan Army, such as restoring peace, defending the Kingdom’s sovereignty and preserving its territorial integrity.

This event provides an opportunity for visitors to discover these glorious pages in the history of the Alaouite Cherifian Dynasty, the press release notes, adding that this exhibition is enriched by over 200 objects, enhanced by models, 3D projections, manuscripts, paintings, plans and historical texts, harmoniously arranged according to museum and historical requirements.

During the event, the Cavalry Inspectorate will also host an axis under the theme “the health and well-being of the horse within Royal Armed Forces units”, the same source continues, noting that units from the Cavalry Inspectorate will present dynamic demonstrations and participate in various competitions.
