Israel and Hamas have reached an agreement on the ‘first phase’ of plan to stop the fighting in Gaza and release hostages and prisoners, said Trump.
Israel’s Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has thanked US President Donald Trump on Wednesday after it reached a breakthrough with Hamas for a ceasefire in Gaza.

“A great day for Israel. Tomorrow I will convene the government to approve the agreement and bring all our dear hostages home. I thank the heroic soldiers of the IDF and all the security forces, thanks to whose courage and sacrifice we have reached this day,” said Netanyahu in Hebrew on X.
“I thank from the depths of my heart President Trump and his team for their mobilization for this sacred mission of releasing our hostages. With the help of the Almighty, together we will continue to achieve all our goals and expand peace with our neighbors,” the Likud leader added further.
On Wednesday night, Trump took to Truth Social to ‘proudly announce’ that Israel and Palestinian militant outfit Hamas have reached an agreement on the ‘first phase’ of plan to stop the fighting in Gaza and release hostages and prisoners.
As per the official statement from the Prime Minister’s office, Trump and Netanyahu shared an “emotional phone call” in which they “congratulated each other on the historic achievement of signing the agreement for the release of all hostages”.
“The Prime Minister thanked President Trump for all his efforts and global leadership, and President Trump congratulated the Prime Minister on his determined leadership and the actions he led,” the statement added.
However, as the truce was announced, local reports added that Israel continued its air raids across Gaza City.
The details of the first phase of the ceasefire deal will be announced later after both parties sign the truce in Cairo.
“This is a great day for the world. This is a wonderful day, a wonderful day for everybody,” Trump told Reuters after announcing the breakthrough.
“The whole world has come together on this one, Israel, every country has come together. This has been a fantastic day,” he added.
