A mother found dead in Perpignan: the autopsy rules out any fatal injury, the husband and the second suspect released – Media7
The victim was discovered in his accommodation at Moulin-à-Vent on Tuesday. Her husband, who had raised the alarm, was immediately arrested, as was one of his acquaintances. After 48 hours in police custody, the two men were released without prosecution this Thursday, November 16, 2023.
The investigation into the death of a mother of three children aged 3, 6 and 9 and aged 38, found dead Tuesday morning at her home in the Les Jasmins residence, rue Jeanne-Jugan, in the Moulin district. à-Vent in Perpignan, took an unexpected turn.
Her husband, aged around sixty, alerted the emergency services on Tuesday morning. In an advanced state of intoxication, he explained that he had left his home the previous evening following an argument and that upon returning he had discovered his wife unconscious. However, this version did not seem to correspond with the injuries observed on the victim and the findings made in the apartment. Nor even with the testimonies recounting regular altercations within the couple or even a defenestration of the 4th floor of the mother of the family in December 2022 after a quarrel. The spouse was immediately placed in police custody as well as one of his friends, suspected of complicity.
However, the autopsy of the body of the thirty-year-old, carried out this Wednesday at the Montpellier forensic institute “did not reveal any fatal traumatic injuries”, specifies the deputy public prosecutor Philippe Latgé. The examination would thus conclude that a death was linked to massive absorption of alcohol and/or medicinal substances.
“The two police custody were thus lifted this Thursday morning”, further confirms the prosecution. “The explanations provided by the two men do not allow, as it stands, to attribute to them an offense which would be the cause of the death.”
However, investigations are continuing and additional examinations are being carried out to establish the formal cause of death.
