Al Haouz post-earthquake reconstruction program: Germany grants 100 million euros loan

The Minister Delegate to the Minister of the Economy and Finance, responsible for the Budget, Fouzi Lekjaa, and the head of division at the German Development Bank (KfW), Sandra Rohleder, signed, Wednesday in Rabat of the loan contract for an amount of 100 million euros, in support of the Program for the reconstruction and upgrading of regions affected by the Al Haouz earthquake.

This loan contract, the signing of which took place in the presence of the Ambassador of the Federal Republic of Germany, Robert Dölger, aims to support Morocco in managing the consequences of the earthquake and mitigating its socio-economic effects. economic on the local population.

Speaking on this occasion, Mr. Lekjaa underlined the importance of this contract intended to “finance part of the direct aid allocated to households”, and which constitutes “a new realization” of the exemplary and lasting partnership between Morocco and Germany.

The minister also welcomed this event, which is an opportunity to recall the cooperation between the two countries, particularly with regard to the major reform programs undertaken by the Kingdom, including major investment projects.

For his part, Mr. Dölger said he was happy with the signing of this contract capable of making a significant contribution to the reconstruction of the affected region, in a spirit of solidarity with Morocco and its population.

“I believe that this contribution from Germany will truly help to make a difference for those affected by the earthquake,” he said, while welcoming this ceremony which also constitutes an excellent example of the quality of relations friendly relations between the two countries.

At the end of this ceremony, Mr. Lekjaa and Ms. Rohleder welcomed the level of partnership ties between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Federal Republic of Germany, while affirming the desire to engage in joint reflection to increase and strengthen access to KfW’s financial resources.
