Alert: Torrential Rains and Strong Winds in Morocco

Morocco is bracing for extreme weather conditions starting this Saturday, according to an alert issued by the General Directorate of Meteorology. Heavy thunderstorms and strong winds are expected in several regions of the country, including the south, the center, the Atlas Mountains, and the eastern slopes. This deterioration of the weather will continue until Monday.

Forecasts indicate that these storms will be caused by the rise of a tropical front towards the southern regions, causing torrential rains accompanied by hail and powerful gusts of wind. These phenomena risk causing flash floods, particularly in mountainous areas, where vigilance is required.

For Thursday, thunderstorms, accompanied by heavy rainfall, are expected in the regions of the Grand Atlas, the Petit Atlas, the southeast, and the east of the country. The General Directorate of Meteorology has issued a warning, calling on residents of these areas to be cautious.

These weather conditions, while rare, are not unusual for this time of year, experts say. They are the result of low pressure areas and cold air masses meeting a tropical front moving up from the south.

Local authorities are on alert and are calling on the population to take the necessary measures to protect themselves. Drivers, especially in mountainous areas, are advised to exercise caution due to increased risks on the roads.

In summary, Morocco is preparing to face difficult days in terms of weather, with intense rainfall and strong winds. Citizens are encouraged to closely monitor weather reports and follow the safety instructions issued by the authorities.
