An Algerian Network Behind Stolen Car Traffic in Morocco – Media7

In a shocking revelation, Moroccan authorities have exposed a vast Algerian network involved in trafficking luxury cars stolen from the United States to Morocco. The joint operation led by Moroccan and Spanish security forces made it possible to dismantle this sophisticated smuggling network.

The investigation, initiated by the Spanish risk analysis unit, resulted in the seizure of 15 stolen prestige vehicles, with a market value exceeding 650,000 euros, as well as counterfeit spare parts. These goods were being transferred to Morocco via the port of Île Verte, an operation that was part of a strategy to damage the Moroccan automobile industry and its thriving reputation.

The Spanish risk analysis unit, working in conjunction with the Moroccan authorities, has uncovered the workings of this well-organized network. The members of this group, of Algerian nationality, are being prosecuted for a series of serious crimes, including drug trafficking, vehicle theft, falsification of documents, illegal possession of weapons and explosives, corruption, illegal immigration, kidnapping and even murder.

Security investigations also revealed that these individuals coordinated their activities with other networks specializing in drug and human trafficking in Algeria. In addition, precise information has highlighted the creation of new branches of this network in Europe.

Beyond the criminal aspect, sources from the newspaper “Al-Sabah” do not leave aside the possibility of involvement of the Algerian regime in the exploitation of this trafficking of stolen vehicles, thus fueling crime in Morocco. Faced with this growing threat, the Moroccan authorities have strengthened their security presence and implemented a rigorous strategy to counter Algerian smuggling networks, which maintain links with influential actors in the neighboring country to the east of the kingdom.

This joint operation between Morocco and Spain constitutes an important step in the fight against transnational smuggling and reinforces Morocco’s reputation as a determined vigilante of its borders and its thriving automobile industry.
