Antigua and Barbuda Reiterates support for Morocco’s Territorial Integrity, Sovereignty Over Entire Territory, Including Sahara Region
Rabat – Antigua and Barbuda reiterated, Monday in Rabat, its support for Morocco’s territorial integrity and sovereignty over its entire territory, including the Sahara region, reaffirming its support for the Moroccan Autonomy Plan as the only solution to this dispute.
Following talks between the Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, and his Antigua and Barbuda’s counterpart, Everly Paul Chet Greene, both parties signed a Joint Communiqué in which Antigua and Barbuda reiterated its full support for Morocco’s territorial integrity and sovereignty over its entire territory, including the Sahara region. Antigua and Barbuda also reaffirmed its support for the Moroccan Autonomy Plan as the only credible, serious and realistic solution for the definitive settlement of this regional dispute. Antigua and Barbuda’s position, as reaffirmed by Chet Greene, is part of the international momentum driven by HM King Mohammed VI, in support of the Moroccan Autonomy Plan and Morocco’s sovereignty over its Sahara. In the Joint Communiqué, signed by the two Ministers, Chet Green also welcomed the efforts of the United Nations as the exclusive framework to achieve a realistic, practical and lasting solution to this regional dispute. As a member of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS), Antigua and Barbuda welcomed the opening of an OECS Embassy in Rabat (October 18, 2018) and a Consulate General in Dakhla (March 31, 2022), which provide a significant opportunity to further strengthen trade between the Kingdom of Morocco and the six Eastern Caribbean States.
