Attack in a high school in Arras: Attal announces legal proceedings in the event of provocation during the minute of silence in memory of Dominique Bernard in middle and high schools

This Monday, the country’s middle and high schools will pay tribute, at 2 p.m., to Dominique Bernard, this teacher killed in an attack that occurred this Friday in Arras.

Guest of the 8 p.m. news on TF1, Gabriel Attal, Minister of National Education, announced that he would “not tolerate any protest, nor any provocation” during the minute of silence which will be observed in middle and high schools in France in 2 p.m. this Monday.

“What is at stake is the memory of Dominique Bernard and Samuel Paty,” said the minister, “but also the authority of National Education. »

And Gabriel Attal recalled that the protests had been in the minority during previous tributes, notably for Charlie Hebdo and the assassination of Samuel Paty. But the minister specified that in the event of “dispute or provocation”, there would be “a nominal report which will give rise to disciplinary procedures by the establishments”. “But there will also be a referral to the public prosecutor to initiate legal proceedings.”

“A standing school”

A little earlier, Gabriel Attal had indicated that “the school had been hit hard but which is standing”. “We will not allow ourselves to be terrorized. »

Finally, the minister also indicated that, for him, the procedures put in place in the establishments avoided “carnage” in Arras this Friday. “The reaction of the director of the establishment was the right one by sheltering all the students.”
