Because of Morocco, Vahid Halilhodžić Says No to a Return to the Field – Media7

Bosnian Vahid Halilhodžić, the former coach of the Moroccan national team, has announced that he has no intention of returning to training, following his tumultuous departure from Morocco ahead of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
In an interview with “Afrique Foot”, Halilhodžić revealed that he had refused all the coaching offers he had received recently. “I don’t want to return to training at the moment. The absence of the World Cup with Morocco has deeply affected me,” he said.
A Significant Disappointment
Halilhodžić expressed his deep disappointment at not playing in the World Cup, saying that the role of coach required total commitment both physically and mentally. He insisted that money was not his main motivation, preferring to focus on ambitious sporting projects and building successful teams, as he has done throughout his career.
A Past of Evictions
Halilhodžić also spoke about his history of dismissals before World Cups. “Unfortunately, I was dismissed three times a few weeks before the start of the tournament. It’s strange! I am thanked while I work on all the logistical and sporting aspects. Accepting these thanks was not easy,” he added.
He stressed the importance of integrity in his decisions, saying he did not know how to cheat and always assumed his responsibilities as a coach.
The Success of Walid Regragui
It is worth recalling that the Royal Moroccan Football Federation decided to part ways with Halilhodžić before the 2022 World Cup due to differences in vision and choices. Walid Regragui, who succeeded him, led the “Atlas Lions” to a historic performance by reaching fourth place in the 2022 World Cup.
Despite the disappointments, Halilhodžić remains a respected figure in the world of football, having scored many successes throughout his career. His departure from Morocco, although controversial, has not dented the admiration he has received from football fans across the globe.
