Casablanca: 26 People Hospitalized for Food Poisoning due to Pastilla

Yesterday in Casablanca, food poisoning led to 26 people being hospitalized after consuming pastilla. The incident occurred in the Harouiyine neighborhood, where a family gathering tragically ended in a medical emergency.

The victims, including young children, were rushed to Sidi Othmane Hospital after experiencing severe abdominal pain and nausea. Medical staff immediately took care of the patients to stabilize their condition.

The origin of the contamination remains unknown. The pastilla, purchased from a supplier discovered via TikTok, could be the cause of the poisoning. Health authorities have launched a thorough investigation to identify possible sources of the contamination.

The pastilla samples have been sent to laboratories for analysis. The first results will determine the possible presence of bacteria or other pathogens responsible for the poisoning.

This case highlights the need for caution when purchasing food products online or from unverified suppliers. Authorities advise consumers to use reliable sources and report any food safety concerns.

Local authorities are continuing the investigation and will provide updates as new information becomes available. Reactions on social media show great concern, and consumers are urged to remain vigilant to avoid similar incidents in the future.
