Casablanca’s Mohammed V International Airport Sees Passenger Increase in May 2024

Casablanca – Mohammed V International Airport in Casablanca experienced a notable rise in passenger traffic in May 2024, welcoming 869,278 travelers. This figure marks a 4% increase from the 836,473 passengers recorded during the same period last year.

The National Airports Office (ONDA) reported that from January to the end of May 2024, Mohammed V Airport handled 3,952,585 passengers, an 8% rise compared to the 3,662,244 passengers during the same period in 2023. The airport now accounts for 31% of Morocco’s total air traffic.

In terms of flight operations, Mohammed V Airport managed 33% of the 20,351 flights arriving at and departing from airports across Morocco. On a national scale, international air traffic surged by 18% in May 2024 compared to May 2023, with 2,493,951 passengers traveling through the country’s airports.

This significant growth is largely driven by the robust performance of the European market, which comprises 85% of Morocco’s international air traffic and saw a 21% increase. Additionally, the African and North American markets experienced growth of 13% and 9% respectively.
