Crucial Announcement: Morocco Ready to Export Gas Thanks to a New Project

In a major breakthrough for the Moroccan gas industry, the British company specializing in oil and gas exploration, “Charriot”, recently announced the launch of a crucial project. On its official website, the company revealed its plans for the construction of a pipeline connecting the “Anchois 1” well on the Larache coast to the Maghreb Europe Gasoduct.

This ambitious project thus confirms the imminent export of the gas discovered in the aforementioned field, in accordance with the deadlines initially set. This announcement is of capital importance for Morocco’s energy economy and highlights the promising prospects for the country’s gas sector.

According to information reported by the Al Alam newspaper in today’s edition, this initiative is part of “Charriot’s” activity program for the year 2024. The company also highlighted the positive impacts expected from the exploitation of gas resources in the Moroccan concessions that it operates.

The recently concluded agreement aims to use the Maghreb Europe Gas Pipeline as a means of transport to transport significant quantities of gas extracted in Larache to importing markets, both in Morocco and in Europe, via Spain. This collaboration strengthens energy ties between Morocco and Europe and opens new commercial prospects for the country.

This announcement follows an earlier statement by the company regarding the discovery of high quality dry gas in the region. This promising discovery will make it possible to develop the potential of the “Lixus” site in Larache, where a second well contains significant gas reserves, with a methane rate exceeding 96% in all identified gas deposits.

In summary, this gas export project opens new economic opportunities for Morocco and strengthens its position on the international energy scene.
