Digitalization Plays Key Role in Morocco’s Health System Reform – Health Minister

Speaking at the opening of the E-Health Summit, held as part of the 3rd GITEX Africa Morocco, the minister emphasized that the reform aims not only to boost the effectiveness of the national health system but also to strengthen its resilience in the face of future challenges.

Digitalization is a key driver of the reform, particularly through the digitalization of the patient journey and the establishment of teleconsultation platforms and interoperability frameworks, Tehraoui explained, noting that these projects “are an integral part of the Ministry’s strategy to modernize the health system.”

“To successfully carry out this initiative, the Ministry must strengthen its teams and reinforce its governance,” he added, stressing the importance of establishing robust and agile IT governance structures.

Touching on the role of the private sector, the minister said it is expected to actively contribute to the transformation, particularly through investment and the promotion of innovation.

As for the E-Health Summit, he noted that it is being held “at a pivotal moment for African health systems, as we face longstanding structural challenges related to access to care, financing and human resources.”
