Drama in Fez: More than 60 injured in a bus accident

More than 60 people were injured Monday evening in Fez when the driver of a line 10 bus lost control, causing the vehicle to overturn near the Ajissa Gate. The bus, en route to Sidi Boujida, hit a taxi before leaving the road.

Among the victims, 54 were evacuated to Al Ghassani provincial hospital, where eight remain hospitalized, including five under strict surveillance. Three others suffered fractures. Their condition is considered stable. At Hassan II University Hospital, six other people, including a child, were admitted for minor injuries.

Witnesses cite brake failure as a possible cause. This incident highlights the critical state of Fez’s buses, criticized for their dilapidation and lack of maintenance. “It was inevitable,” confides one resident. “These buses are ticking time bombs. »

The reaction of the authorities was rapid. National security and civil protection teams were deployed. The region’s wali, Saïd Zniber, went to the scene to supervise the relief efforts and ensure the treatment of the injured.

Residents of Fez express their frustration with the conditions of public transport, demanding an urgent renewal of the fleet to guarantee the safety of users.
