False advertising from telecom operators: an MP calls on the government
MP Abdellatif Zaim, from the Authenticity and Modernity Party (PAM), sent a written question to the Minister of Industry and Commerce, Ryad Mezzour, concerning the reliability of advertising campaigns by telecom operators in Morocco.
In his letter, the MP points out a significant gap between the services announced and those actually provided by certain companies in the sector. These campaigns promise fast Internet connections and advantageous offers, while users denounce insufficient speeds and delays in activating subscriptions.
Zaim also highlighted the lack of responsiveness of operators to customer complaints, a situation which fuels consumer dissatisfaction and generates frequent criticism on social networks.
The parliamentarian calls for immediate measures to guarantee respect for users’ rights and strengthen transparency in a sector that he describes as “vital for economic and social development”. He requested specific information on the control mechanisms applied by the ministry and the initiatives planned to regulate misleading advertising practices.
The Ministry of Industry and Commerce has not yet responded to this inquiry. However, the issue raises significant expectations among citizens, concerned about the quality of services and the protection of their rights in the face of practices deemed unfair.
