Food poisoning in a nursing home: a fourth person died
Around forty patients suffered from profuse diarrhea. The number of victims now stands at four residents.
A fourth resident died this Saturday, November 11 as a result of food poisoning which took place in the Pleine-Fougères nursing home in Ille-et-Vilaine, the Prosecutor’s Office said. The Saint-Malo prosecutor Fabrice Tremel had announced the day before that an investigation into involuntary manslaughter and involuntary injuries had been opened.
The facts date back to Monday October 30. Three residents died and a fourth person was hospitalized. Forty residents and one staff member of the establishment fell ill on the night of October 30 to 31. They suffered in particular from profuse diarrhea. The ARS carried out analyzes and diagnosed a “collective food poisoning” (TIAC).
No information has been provided on the nature and origin of the foods that made the residents sick. Analyzes must be carried out on the control dishes by the Departmental Directorate for Population Protection (DDPP).
