French Expert Hails France-Morocco Axis as Vector of Peace

Speaking to MAP about the recent intensification of exchanges between Rabat and Paris—particularly the visit of French Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau to Rabat on Sunday, followed by that of Moroccan Foreign Minister Nasser Bourita to Paris on Monday— Chaban Delmas highlighted the shared desire of both countries “to serve as a platform for dialogue and peace in resolving global crises, while upholding the international legal order.”

This commitment was reaffirmed by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In a statement released on Tuesday following his meeting with Bourita, French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot praised Morocco’s engagement in multilateral forums on issues of peace, stability, and development, expressing his will to continue close consultations and pursue joint initiatives with the Kingdom.

Both ministers confirmed their shared ambition to use Franco–Moroccan cooperation as a tool to address regional crises and defend international law.

According to Chaban Delmas, the topics discussed by the foreign ministers of both nations contribute to shaping a bilateral partnership that now aspires to be a genuine instrument of peace.

The expert also welcomed the positive outcomes of the French Interior Minister’s visit to Morocco, calling it a further illustration of the positive momentum in bilateral relations.

“It is encouraging to see that, despite the current global context, both countries are managing to build strong and lasting partnerships that will help shape this century,” he added, recalling recent milestones in the relationship, including Morocco’s guest-of-honor status at the Paris Agricultural Show and the Paris Book Festival.
