“I heard the explosions of the Kalashnikov”: after the shooting in Marseille, witnesses at the scene react
Two men aged 24 and 41 were shot dead and a third man aged 41 was injured in a shooting which occurred in working-class neighborhoods in the north of Marseille, this Thursday, September 28.
The shooting occurred around 7:40 p.m. in Chutes-Lavie, in the 4th arrondissement of Marseille. The perpetrator, armed with a long weapon, fled in a vehicle. A scene which was filmed by a video surveillance camera.
Several witnesses spoke to BFM Marseille Provence about this evening. Among them, Yves. He explains that he saw “a hooded guy with a stopped car” who positioned himself in front of the store before shooting. He adds to our colleagues: “I didn’t try to understand, I ran away. I said to myself “if I ever take one too (…) There are only little old people here, there is a retirement home next door, nothing ever happens normally”.
“When I saw that he shot, I ducked. The weapon, the intonation, it’s impressive, it’s a weapon of war,” says another resident who was present on her balcony at the time of the incident.
According to BFMTV, the Marseille prosecutor’s office has opened a blatant investigation into the charges of “assassinations and attempted assassinations by an organized gang”.
