Increase in Drink Prices: Cafe Owners in Defense

In the cafe and restaurant sector, an increase in drinks prices has recently sparked debate. Cafe owners have spoken out to explain the reasons behind the decision, while customers have expressed both criticism and understanding.

According to Mohammed Bouzit, president of the National Federation of Associations of Cafés, Restaurants and Tourist Units in Morocco, this increase can be explained by several factors. First of all, production costs have increased, especially due to the increase in prices of raw materials such as coffee. In addition, the growing demand from professionals for the products of coffee companies in the Moroccan market has led to additional pressure on prices.

Bouzit also points out that Moroccan legislation on price freedom and competition gives cafe owners the freedom to set their own prices. This freedom is essential to maintain the competitiveness of the sector and ensure the sustainability of businesses.

Despite criticism from some customers, cafe owners say the price increase is necessary to cover rising costs and ensure the financial viability of their establishments. However, not all cafes have adopted the same pricing policy, giving owners the freedom to set their own prices based on various factors.

Ultimately, this increase in beverage prices reflects the economic challenges facing the cafe sector in Morocco. As owners seek to maintain profitability, they must also meet customer expectations and remain competitive in an ever-changing market.
