Joaquin Correa at OM: Riolo’s Doubts Regarding the Last Recruit

Olympique de Marseille is not on the sidelines of the summer transfer market. Since the beginning of this period, the Marseille club has spared no effort to strengthen itself. Last Friday, management formalized the arrival of Joaquin Correa from Inter Milan.

Although this news has delighted many OM supporters, Daniel Riolo’s opinion differs. The French journalist spoke on the After Foot program and expressed some reservations about this latest OM acquisition, thus warning Marseille fans.

Riolo’s Doubts

Riolo began by sharing his point of view, explaining: “I contacted interist friends to get their opinion on Correa. Their first reaction may not be to Marseille’s liking, as Champions League runners-up Inter Milan see themselves as superior. They believe that for a club such as OM, this acquisition is acceptable, but Correa is a second-rate player. I want to make it clear that I am only reporting what I heard. I don’t pass judgement. I was simply told that he was a lesser player, but who could be suitable for OM. »

He then added: “At Inter Milan he had little playing time, as he was competing with players such as Lukaku, Lautaro and Dzeko. When he was playing, he didn’t particularly stand out. He’s an average player with good will, but he’s certainly not a great player. He is more of a standard player, with no outstanding characteristics. This is how it is perceived in Italy. (…) We must not forget that OM do not play in the Premier League, which is a top level championship. Therefore, it is unlikely that an exceptional player will choose to join our league or OM. »

A New Recruit Under Criticism

It’s obvious that Joaquin Correa arrives in Marseille with a certain weight of skepticism on his shoulders, at least according to Daniel Riolo. OM supporters are hoping that Correa will be able to prove his worth on the pitch and contribute to their team’s success in Ligue 1. Only time will tell if Riolo was right to doubt Correa’s abilities or if the latter will know conquer the hearts of Marseilles by demonstrating their skills in the field.
