Kylian Mbappé and PSG: A Financial Conflict That Intensifies – Media7

Kylian Mbappé is at the heart of a financial dispute with his former club, Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), claiming more than €55 million in unpaid arrears. The current Real Madrid player has contacted the legal committee of the Ligue de Football Professionnel (LFP), as well as UEFA, through the French Football Federation, in the hope of recovering this sum.

Detail of Amounts Claimed

The dispute mainly concerns the last third of a signing bonus, amounting to 36 million euros gross, that Mbappé should have received in February. Added to this are three months of salaries (April, May, June), as well as an ethics bonus for these same months, not paid according to the player’s allegations. The total amount thus amounts to more than 55 million euros, which pushed Mbappé to take action to recover what is owed to him.

The Defense of PSG

For its part, PSG disputes these claims by relying on “commitments” supposedly made by Mbappé. The club claims that the player had agreed not to claim money in the event of leaving without transfer compensation during the summer of 2024. PSG therefore denies any financial obligation towards its former player, relying on this agreement to justify the absence of payment.

A New Legal Battle in Sight?

According to information published by Le Monde, Mbappé could also open a new front by seizing the industrial tribunal to claim not only the unpaid amounts, but also possible compensation for moral harassment. This potential legal escalation shows to what extent the conflict between the player and his former club could worsen in the months to come.

A New Chapter in Madrid

Since July 1, Kylian Mbappé is officially a Real Madrid player, having signed a contract that runs until 2029. According to media reports, he will receive the sum of 150 million euros over five years, with an annual net salary of 15 million euros. Added to this are his image rights and advertising revenues, consolidating his position as one of the highest-paid players in world football.

The dispute with PSG, however, may well follow Mbappe to Madrid, beyond his performances on the pitch. The case highlights the complexities of contractual relationships in modern football, where the sums at stake are colossal and disputes can quickly become public. Mbappe, now focused on his new career in Spain, remains determined to seek justice for what he sees as a breach of his contractual rights.
