Marrakech: closure of 31 hotels and guest houses for these violations
The Wali of Marrakech, Farid Chourak, ordered the temporary closure of 31 hotels and guest houses due to serious violations of the laws governing the hotel sector.
In an official press release, the governor of the Marrakech-Safi region announced the closure of these establishments for a period of three months. This measure comes after inspections carried out by joint commissions made up of local authorities, the municipality and the police headquarters.
The dysfunctions noted include non-compliance with closing times, noise pollution affecting neighboring residents and other behaviors deemed detrimental to the image of Marrakech and its tourism sector.
Despite previous warnings to affected owners, no corrective action has been taken to comply with the regulations.
Maintaining employee salaries was imposed on owners during the closure period. Farid Chourak also warned that any repeat offense would result in permanent closure of establishments and legal proceedings.
These sanctions illustrate the authorities’ desire to preserve the tourist attractiveness of Marrakech while guaranteeing respect for the laws and the tranquility of citizens.
