Road sinkholes threaten the safety of Marrakech residents, posing a growing challenge to road users in the Moroccan city. Residents of several neighborhoods and residential areas express their concern about the alarming increase in these dangerous cavities, endangering the lives of motorists and pedestrians.
In the administrative area of Amerschich, in the heart of the Gueliz district, the situation is particularly worrying. The surroundings of the university campus, the streets leading to the faculties of letters and human sciences, law and economic sciences, as well as the Mohammed VI university hospital center, are dotted with deep chasms representing an imminent danger for road users.
These cavities have already been the cause of several traffic accidents, some caused by desperate attempts to avoid, others by a lack of vigilance on the part of drivers in the face of the dangers of degraded roads. Material damage suffered by vehicles and motorcycles is accumulating and causing growing concern among the population.
The local authorities of Marrakech are strongly urged to act quickly and effectively. Temporary closure of affected roads and implementation of emergency measures are necessary to prevent further accidents and limit material losses. Citizens are also demanding a complete rehabilitation of damaged roads to ensure the safety of road users in the region.
