Measles wave in Morocco: More than 50 cases and two deaths reported

Chefchaouen is facing a measles epidemic, with more than 50 confirmed cases and two deaths occurring in recent days. A three-month-old infant died last Wednesday in Témoroute, followed by a three-year-old girl in Mansoura Beni Ahmed on November 22, 2024.

Health authorities have attributed the rapid spread of the disease to the refusal of some parents to vaccinate their children, despite the vaccine being free under national programs.

In response to the situation, authorities have raised a high alert and intensified awareness campaigns on the importance of vaccination to prevent measles.

Medical teams are closely monitoring the situation, while preventive measures are put in place to limit the spread of the virus.
