More than 550 tonnes of SNCF rails stolen by a railway worker and two accomplices: the suspects resold the goods to a recycling company – Media7

To achieve his ends, the railway worker wrote a false scrap metal removal order which he then gave to his two accomplices.

The facts date back to last summer. Three individuals, aged 28, 45 and 63, are suspected of having stolen nearly 566 tonnes of SNCF rails, in Cahors, in the Lot. According to information from Le Parisien, they were arrested this Tuesday, November 7 and placed in police custody. Two of them are already known to the courts.

But if this case is so surprising, it is because one of the suspects is a railway worker. According to the investigation, the latter wrote a false scrap metal removal order which he then gave to his two accomplices who came from the Traveler community.

According to our colleagues, the company, “in good faith”, according to the police, then began to remove the 566 tonnes of scrap metal stored on the SNCF site in Cahors. The goods were then resold to a recycling company for an amount of 120,000 euros.

But when the scrap metal was to take the road towards Spain, it was able to be intercepted by the police. After searches, 18,950 euros were seized, a Renault Kadjar worth 9,000 euros and a BMW 1 series worth 36,000 euros.
