Moroccan Head of Government Speaks with Peer from São Tomé and Príncipe
During the meeting, the two parties discussed ways to strengthen the ties of friendship and cooperation between their countries, in line with the vision of HM King Mohammed VI, aimed at promoting South-South cooperation for the benefit of the African continent, according to a statement from the Head of Government’s office.
In this regard, Akhannouch expressed Morocco’s willingness, under the leadership of HM the King, to share its expertise with its African partner countries. He welcomed the positive outcomes of the 2020-2022 cooperation roadmap between the Kingdom and São Tomé and Príncipe and highlighted the shared commitment to advance towards a more ambitious roadmap that prioritizes key development sectors.
Furthermore, both parties expressed satisfaction with the level of bilateral political consultation, emphasizing the mutual and coordinated support between Morocco and São Tomé and Príncipe for their respective candidacies in various regional and international bodies.
The talks also provided an opportunity to commend São Tomé and Príncipe’s support for Morocco’s sovereignty over the Sahara, as evidenced by the opening of its consulate general in Laayoune in January 2020.
Additionally, emphasis was placed on the importance of establishing a business council between Morocco and São Tomé and Príncipe to boost bilateral trade and leverage the economic potential of both countries.
