Moroccan Sahara: Burkina Faso Renews Support for Morocco’s Territorial Integrity, Autonomy Plan

Rabat – Burkina Faso’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Cooperation and Burkinabe Abroad, Karamoko Jean-Marie Traoré, reiterated, here Friday, Burkina Faso’s constant support for Morocco’s territorial integrity.

During a press briefing following talks with Minister of Foreign Affairs, African Cooperation and Moroccan Expatriates, Nasser Bourita, Burkina Faso’s head of diplomacy reaffirmed his country’s support for the autonomy plan presented by the kingdom as the best solution to settle the regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara. 

Traoré also hailed the “excellent efforts made within the framework of the United Nations” and expressed his wish to see this plan “enjoy everyone’s support”.

Burkina Faso opened a Consulate General in Dakhla on October 23rd, 2020, marking the brotherly country’s unwavering support for the Moroccan Sahara.
