Morocco: a facial recognition system soon installed in Tangier

The city of Tangier is preparing to deploy an advanced surveillance system based on facial recognition, as part of a medina modernization project. This system, funded up to 12 million dirhams, aims to strengthen security in this historic area.
The call for tenders for the installation of the system will be open on March 25 at the agency’s headquarters for the promotion and development of the North. The project provides for the installation of cameras connected to a server capable of analyzing up to 64 video flows simultaneously with 99 %accuracy. This system also incorporates fraud detection technologies to distinguish real faces from falsified images.
With real -time monitoring capacities, it will identify and retrace the movements of individuals via a database available according to criteria such as age, sex or time. Operators will also have access to interactive recordings of the recordings.
From a technical point of view, the device is based on an Intel Xeon processor, a 32 GB RTX 5000 graphics card, 64 GB of RAM and storage of 12 TB. It will include a backup infrastructure to ensure continuous and reliable operation.
