As the qualification matches for the 2026 World Cup against Niger and Tanzania, the coach of Morocco, Walid Regragui, approaches two major challenges in the composition of his workforce.

The first puzzle concerns the goalkeeper position. Yassine Bounou, holder of the Atlas Lions and Al-Hilal player, has a drop-down return this season. He only managed to keep his inviolated cage five times, against fifteen clean Sheets in 31 games in the previous season.

The second challenge is in defense, where the lack of stability worries. The recurring injuries of Nayef Aguerd, defender of Real Sociedad, and Chadi Riad complicate the choices of the technical staff. Added to this is the drop in the form of Jamal Harkass, captain of the Wydad Casablanca, making the task even more difficult for Regragui.

Faced with these uncertainties, the coach will have to find quick solutions to secure his rearguard and align a competitive team in these crucial deadlines.
