New features for the 2023-2024 Back to School Revealed by Benmoussa
The Minister of National Education, Primary Education and Sport, Chakib Benmoussa, unveiled the updates for the 2023-2024 school year during a press conference held this Tuesday, September 5 in the capital Rabat.
In this context, the Minister announced that nearly 8 million students will join the benches of primary, secondary and preparatory education, whether they come from the public or private sector. He stressed that this school year would be crucial for the transformation of public education.
As part of this reform, the Minister of National Education and Primary Education and Sport has confirmed the implementation of a set of projects and structured measures, both in terms of program and procedures. . This includes the introduction of new teaching methods and the modernization of the teaching of Arabic and French languages in educational establishments.
Moreover, Benmoussa said that the teaching of the Amazigh language would be extended to the primary level, with an expected rate of 31%. Gradually, the teaching of English will be introduced in the first year of secondary school (28%) and in the second year of secondary school (62%).
In addition, modern audio-visual media will be integrated into the teaching and learning process to provide students with daily access to uniform content while expanding regular reading activities.
Furthermore, Benmoussa confirmed that the new school year will also include a review and evaluation of the programs specific to the first year of secondary school, with the aim of improving them and enriching students’ knowledge.
Finally, the same speaker underlined that the Ministry of National Education and Primary Education and Sport would work on setting up a permanent committee for the revision and adaptation of curricula and textbooks. The objective is to maintain a constant update according to pedagogical developments, with a view to improving the quality of educational content in public schools.
