New Road Rules for Scooters and Electric Bikes in Morocco?

The Moroccan Minister of Transport and Logistics, Mohamed Abdeljalil, announced the formulation of two new draft decrees aimed at adjusting traffic rules to integrate electric scooters and bicycles on public roads. These initiatives amend and enrich existing decrees on vehicles and road traffic, thus meeting the needs of evolving urban mobility.

In a crucial meeting at the House of Representatives, Minister Abdeljalil outlined the details of the proposed amendments. These changes include the redefinition of motorized personal transport devices and pedal-assisted bicycles, as well as the establishment of strict technical criteria and traffic rules aligned with international road safety standards. The aim is to ensure the safety and security of users on Moroccan roads.

The Moroccan government has clearly demonstrated its commitment to improving road safety through a series of strategic measures. In addition to immediate legislative adjustments, a long-term vision includes the careful evaluation of the previous five-year plan (2017-2021) and the preparation of a new plan for the coming years.
