Most indicators in terms of human development in oasis and argan zones have recorded “a clear improvement”, indicated the Minister of Agriculture, Maritime Fisheries, Rural Development and Water and Forests, Mohamed Sadiki.
Mr. Sadiki, who chaired the 10th session of the Strategic Orientation Council of the National Agency for the Development of Oasis and Argan Zones (ANDZOA), reported, in this regard, the reduction in the poverty rate and improving access to basic infrastructure in these areas.
Quoted by a press release from the ministry, Mr. Sadiki underlined the “exemplary” path traveled by ANDZOA, since the presentation of the Agency’s strategy to HM King Mohammed VI in October 2013 in Errachidia, thanks to the involvement and the mobilization of all stakeholders in the territory.
The minister also insisted on the importance of coordination, convergence of actions and partnership between all actors of territorial development, emphasizing the continuation of the efforts deployed in prioritizing the axes of the New Development Model (NMD), in particular the aspects relating to employment, the integration of young people and women and all Moroccans in the world, the press release said.
For her part, the General Director of ANDZOA, Latifa Yaakoubi, highlighted the significant achievements recorded at the level of the action zone during the decade 2012-2022, in terms of projects and development indicators, monitoring of production sectors, knowledge management and strengthening of scientific research, in addition to financing and international cooperation.
Among the flagship projects to which the agency has given priority, the strengthening of the “health offer”, opening up, the encouragement of entrepreneurship in rural areas, the economic empowerment of women and the preservation of the environment. , she noted.
The Director General of ANDZOA also presented the action plan for the period 2024-2026 and the guidelines of the new development strategy for oasis zones and the argan tree by 2030.
To this end, she pointed out that ANDZOA is called upon to face major challenges over the next decade, so that it can achieve the strategic objectives assigned to it.
The session focused on the presentation of the assessment relating to the implementation of the development strategy of oasis zones and the argan tree during the decade 2012-2022, as well as the future strategic orientations of the Agency, its action plan for the period 2024-2026 and the overall development program for oasis zones and the argan tree by 2030.
The 2030 vision has set 3 strategic orientations to accelerate the development process in the Agency’s area of intervention, specifies the press release, noting that this involves strengthening the resilience of territories and ecosystems in the face of climate change. , the improvement of the social well-being of populations in rural and urban areas and the diversification and internationalization of the economy of the intervention area to make it more competitive by directing it towards sectors with high added value.
This session was attended by the President of the Regional Council of Guelmim Oued-Noun, Mbarka Bouaida, the President of the Council of the Drâa-Tafilalet Region, Hro Abrou, the President of the National Federation of Chambers of Agriculture, Lahbib Bentaleb, the vice-president of the Souss-Massa region, Mohamed Oudor, in addition to the members of the council and representatives of the ministerial departments concerned and partner establishments.
