One Million Moroccan Households Will Benefit from Direct Social Assistance from December 28

The Moroccan government, led by Prime Minister Aziz Akhannouch, is set to roll out major financial support affecting around one million families, equivalent to 3.5 million citizens, starting December 28. This first tranche of direct social assistance aims to reduce the costs of eligible households, in accordance with the criteria of the Unified Social Register.

Staggered Distribution Depending on Eligibility

From December 28, one million families, having met the eligibility conditions and submitted their application before December 10, will receive a minimum amount of 500 dirhams per household, regardless of its composition. For applications submitted after this date, payments for December and January will be made at the end of the following month.

Electronic Portal: Witness to Growing Demand

The Prime Minister stressed during the Governing Council meeting that since the launch of the electronic portal www.asd.ma at the beginning of December, more than 1.9 million requests have been recorded. This figure continues to grow daily, demonstrating significant public enthusiasm for this financial support.

The Year 2023, Major Social Turning Point

The year 2023 is marked as a turning point in the achievement of the objectives of the “social state”. The government is undertaking major initiatives, ranging from the generalization of compulsory health insurance to direct social assistance intended for families in precarious situations, including support for the acquisition of primary housing.

Education: Strengthening Teachers

The Prime Minister insisted on the need to strengthen the place and role of teachers in the reform of the education system. A crucial agreement signed on December 10 provides for a net and general monthly increase in salaries of at least 1,500 dirhams, representing the largest in the history of the Kingdom, with an annual cost exceeding 10 billion dirhams.

Management of Post-Earthquake Challenges

Following the Al Haouz earthquake, the government, under the royal instructions, transformed challenges into opportunities. A reconstruction and development operation was put in place, demonstrating the Kingdom’s resilience in the face of challenges.

Aziz Akhannouch praised the constant commitment of ministers in the implementation of major government projects. The Executive aspires to contribute to the development of Morocco by guaranteeing dignity and equal opportunities for all citizens, making 2023 a pivotal year towards a more united future.
