Perpignan: hundreds of stolen objects, €13,000 in undue social benefits, a trio of thieves convicted – Media7

Three people were sentenced by the Perpignan criminal court this Thursday, November 9, 2023, for acts dating back to the summer of 2022.

Thefts from construction vehicles, from gardens, from containers, especially of tools and swimming pool robots. In the summer of 2022, across the entire department, a trio of thieves, a couple and their sidekick, are rampant. It is a theft of professional equipment inside a vehicle, in the town of Perpignan, which triggers an investigation by the property crime unit of the Perpignan police station, on July 27, 2022.

Less than a month later, on August 24, the team was identified, arrested, and placed in police custody. During the searches, around a hundred stolen items were found. The one considered to be the main author, aged 46, partially recognizes the facts. He operated with his 36-year-old partner and a 39-year-old friend. The three were presented to the prosecution, then placed in pre-trial detention pending their judgment, which took place this Thursday, November 9, 2023.

They are accused of having committed sixteen acts of theft, and false or incomplete declarations to obtain social benefits, for an amount of €13,508 which was seized. The main perpetrator was sentenced to 30 months in prison with continued detention. His partner, for her part, received 18 months in prison, while the third man was sentenced to 18 months in prison.
