A fire broke out on the night of Sunday October 8 to Monday October 9, 2023, on the terrace of a tavern in Sant Vicens Park in Perpignan which had just opened two days earlier.
According to initial information, a dozen tables, a parasol and around thirty chairs went up in smoke.
An investigation was immediately opened, entrusted to the police services of the Perpignan police station who, at the same time as they carried out on-site findings, launched the investigations.
The neighborhood investigation and the use of video surveillance cameras made it possible to quickly identify a suspect who was seen setting fire to the establishment’s parasols with a lighter. She was arrested on Monday morning. Placed in police custody, the suspect, aged around sixty, admitted the facts but provided no explanation for his actions.
She was brought to the courthouse and placed under judicial supervision pending her judgment before the Perpignan criminal court.
