Pope Francis’ body may be moved to St. Peter’s Basilica by Wednesday, pending approval from cardinals.

Vatican spokesperson Matteo Bruni stated that Pope Francis’ body could be transferred to St. Peter’s Basilica as soon as Wednesday, pending the approval of a group of cardinals. The decision will be made during a meeting of the cardinals, where they will discuss the arrangements for the papal funeral and other related matters. If the transfer goes ahead, it will allow the faithful to begin paying their respects to the late pontiff. The body would likely be displayed for public viewing, giving mourners a chance to honour Pope Francis before the official ceremonies begin.
