Rabat – A total of 3.7 million care files relating to beneficiaries of “Compulsory Health Insurance-Solidarity”, with a total budget exceeding 2.38 billion dirhams, have been processed and reimbursed to date, said Monday the head of government, Aziz Akhannouch.

In response to a central question in the House of Representatives as part of the monthly session on “Strategic orientations of the health system”, Mr. Akhannouch indicated that the average compensation is around 630 DH per file, i.e. a rate support exceeding 2,000 DH per beneficiary.

More than 10.5 million people from families in precarious situations whose contributions to the National Social Security Fund (CNSS) are covered by the State, at a cost of 9.5 billion dirhams, can now access care in public and private hospitals in addition to the possibility of benefiting from reimbursement of medicines, explained Mr. Akhannouch.

The head of government recalled, in this sense, the launch of the direct social assistance program, according to an integrated vision based on better targeting of social categories eligible for support and the mobilization of all the necessary resources in order to achieve the objectives of consolidation of the social State, in full compliance with the timetable set by His Majesty King Mohammed VI.

This process, which will begin at the end of next December, will notably include direct support for families with children (7 million children of school age), the generalization of family allowances for children with disabilities and aid to families without children taking in charge of the elderly, in addition to the maternity allowance, on the occasion of the first and second birth, he detailed.

According to the head of government, the achievements that the Kingdom is experiencing today “mark historic changes that should place Morocco among the leading countries in terms of effective social justice, which place the human element at the center of its societal project.” ensuring that the government will spare no effort to achieve this objective, as advocated by His Majesty the King.

On the other hand, Mr. Akhannouch mentioned the efforts made by the government to gradually increase the number of employees in the health sector to more than 90,000 by 2025, the objective being to exceed the threshold of 24 health professionals per 10,000 inhabitants, recommended by the World Health Organization (WHO), and to reach an average of 45 professionals/10,000 inhabitants by 2030.

In this perspective, he reported the creation of 5,500 new budget positions under the finance law for the year 2024, in order to meet the human resources needs of the Ministry of Health and Social Protection, in particular with regard to medical and paramedical executives, indicating that since its installation, the government has created some 16,500 budgetary positions in the sector.

The government is striving to achieve these objectives by strengthening the training offer, notably through the creation of three faculties of medicine and pharmacy and three university hospital centers in the towns of Errachidia, Béni Mellal and Guelmim, he noted.

In addition, Mr. Akhannouch did not fail to highlight the increase in the reception capacity of the Higher Institutes of Nursing and Health Technology Professions, going from 4,000 places for the previous academic year to 6,200 places for the current year, as well as the increase in the reception capacity of professional training institutes in the field of health, from 680 places during the previous academic season to 770 places for the current year.

Furthermore, new specializations have been implemented as part of the ISPITS master’s program, he continued.
