Pyrénées-Orientales: a kitchen fire occurs in Allée des pins in Argelès and causes a water leak, three businesses closed

The fire that occurred this Saturday morning, September 23, 2023, in the kitchen of the restaurant La Réserve in Argelès plage, caused a water leak which spread to two other establishments. All three were forced to close for at least the day.

The alert sounded this Saturday morning at 8:35 a.m. at the department’s firefighter operational center. A cooking fire had just started at the La Réserve restaurant, located on Allée Jules-Aroles, the unmissable Allée des Pins in Argelès Plage.

Very quickly on site, eighteen firefighters finished drowning the fire, while the gendarmerie carried out the usual observations and the technical services carried out checks and other controls.

Occasionally, emergency services discovered that the fire had caused a water leak which spread throughout La Réserve and into two adjoining businesses, El Chiringuito, a cocktail bar, and La Gelateria, an artisanal ice cream parlor.

The three establishments are closed, at least for the day, while their staff are technically unemployed.
