Pyrénées-Orientales: two new mobile gendarmerie brigades will be established in the department – Media7
This Monday, October 2, Emmanuel Macron, traveling in Lot-et-Garonne, unveiled the list of gendarmerie brigades which will be created by the end of 2027. In the Pyrénées-Orientales, there will be two new ones.
Latour-de-Carol, in the Carol Valley, and Arles-sur-Tech, in Vallespir, will be the next two communes in the Pyrénées-Orientales which will welcome new gendarmerie brigades. However, we should not expect to see new barracks spring up in the department, since these two brigades will have the specificity of being mobile.

For the Pyrénées-Orientales, last May, the prefect at the time Rodrigue Furcy had already spoken in the columns of L’Indépendant about the creation of these brigades, recalling that it would be a question of creating posts and “not a simple redeployment of the gendarmerie forces present in the department.” These new brigades should therefore each have around ten new soldiers. The Pyrénées-Orientales currently has just under 700 gendarmes.
