Doha – The exhibition of “Berber Jewelry from the Royal Palace” at the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha, the inaugural program of the Qatar-Morocco cultural year 2024, has just closed in apotheosis.

Initiated by His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God help him, and exhibited for the first time outside the Kingdom, this exhibition testifies to the depth of the strong and historical ties between the two brother peoples and the two Heads of State, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, may God help him, and His Highness Sheikh Tamim Ben Hamad Al Thani.

Organized by the National Foundation of Museums of the Kingdom of Morocco and the Museum of Islamic Art in Doha with the support of the Moroccan Embassy in Qatar, this exhibition, open to the public from February 20 to May 20, represented a unique window on Moroccan culture.

It was intended as a face-to-face meeting between the visitor and an impressive collection of silver jewelry, which constitutes an important part of the permanent exhibition of the Oudayas of Morocco belonging to the National Museum of Ornament in Rabat, paying homage to the artisans who meticulously crafted these exceptional pieces and, in particular, to the women who have preserved these traditions.

Many Moroccans established in Qatar, Qataris and tourists passing through Doha have expressed their great pride in discovering this collection which represents an exceptional facet of Moroccan tangible and intangible heritage. A pride all the greater since it is the first time that this collection, acclaimed by the thousands of visitors who had the privilege of discovering it, has been exhibited outside of Morocco.

Also to immortalize this exceptional and historic moment, a film of rare beauty was produced in order to capture the sublime of these 200 exceptional jewels and to reach a wider audience around the world.

Remember that “Years of Culture”, an initiative aimed at strengthening relations between nations and peoples, has designated Morocco as Qatar’s partner for this year 2024. The year will be punctuated by major artistic exhibitions and cultural events. in each of the two countries.

Morocco is planning a series of actions where Moroccan know-how, culture, architecture, gastronomy and arts will be in the spotlight.
