Reinforced Security in Tangier: Installation of 533 Surveillance Cameras

In a resolute approach towards a safer city, Tangier is announcing a major project: the installation of 533 surveillance cameras in its public spaces. With a substantial budget of 56 million dirhams (MDH), this initiative aims to improve security and control in the region.

The municipality of Tangier, strongly committed to this project, is investing 14 million dirhams, while the general direction of local authorities and the Regional Council of Tangier-Tétouan-Al Hoceima are contributing 28 million dirhams and 14 million dirhams respectively. This collaboration demonstrates a strong partnership to strengthen public safety.

The main objective of this project is to equip public spaces with modern surveillance systems, thus allowing better traffic management, deterrence of deviant behavior, fight against crime, and protection of public property.

Led by the Agency for the Promotion and Development of the North (APDN), this project will last three years. It will include not only the installation of surveillance cameras, but also the establishment of a fiber optic network and dedicated infrastructure over a distance of 20 kilometers, thus covering 111 strategic points throughout the city.

The modernization of the surveillance systems control room, located at the headquarters of the Tangier police headquarters, is also planned. This initiative aims to ensure optimal use of the system, with an upgrade and adequate equipment of the associated data center.

The installation of these surveillance cameras represents an important step in securing Tangier, thus strengthening its image as a modern and secure city, ready to meet the challenges of tomorrow.
