Revision of Road Laws: New Rules for “Tricycles” and “Scooters”

The Ministry of Transport and Logistics announces significant changes to the highway code. A draft decree, transmitted by Minister Mohamed Abdeljalil to the General Secretariat of the Government, provides for major adjustments concerning the use of motorized tricycles, commonly called “Triporteurs”, as well as electric vehicles, known as “Trottinettes” .
This draft decree aims to respond to recent developments in the field of urban mobility. With the emergence of new means of transport and the increasing use of advanced driver assistance systems, it becomes essential to adapt road legislation to guarantee the safety of all road users.
In addition to changes to traffic rules, the draft decree also provides for adjustments in administrative procedures. The main objective is to simplify procedures within the services of the National Road Safety Agency, in particular by clarifying the definitions and specifying the requirements for motorized personal transport vehicles and electrically assisted bicycles.
This initiative is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to improve road safety and promote sustainable urban mobility. Stakeholders are invited to read the draft decree and provide their comments before its final adoption.
