Ryanair imposes strict new rules

Ryanair has announced a ban on bottles of liquids, including water, on board its planes as part of a new measure to improve safety and prevent inappropriate behaviour. The move follows a rise in disruptive incidents involving alcohol consumption in-flight, which have sparked growing concerns within the airline.

Ryanair CEO Michael O’Leary has called for stricter regulation of alcohol consumption at airports and proposed limiting the number of alcoholic drinks allowed per passenger during flights to two. The suggestion is aimed at reducing the aggressive behaviour that regularly occurs on board aircraft, especially when alcohol is consumed in combination with other substances.

In an interview with the British newspaper The Daily Telegraph, O’Leary stressed the need for increased vigilance to prevent alcohol-related violent incidents. He also revealed that Ryanair staff are now inspecting passengers’ luggage on some flights, including those to party destinations such as Ibiza and some Greek islands.
