The body of a man, half naked, found in Espira-de-l’Agly: the autopsy confirms the presence of multiple traces of violence, one of the suspects indicted for “murder”

The body of a 25-year-old man, partially naked, was discovered by a walker this Saturday, November 11, 2023 on a path in the town of Espira-de-l’Agly. An investigation was opened by the Perpignan public prosecutor’s office which led to the arrest of two men, placed in police custody, on Sunday and Monday.

A judicial investigation for “murder” but also for “failure to assist a person in danger” was opened this Monday, November 13, 2023 at the Perpignan judicial court, after the discovery of the corpse of a young man, partially naked, bruised by blows. , Saturday morning, in Espira-de-l’Agly.

The investigation, entrusted to the gendarmes of the Montpellier research section and the Rivesaltes research brigade, made it possible to identify the victim as being aged 25 and not residing in the town. He was known to the police and had already been convicted of traffic offenses and acts of aggravated violence.

Investigations also led to the arrest of two men, Sunday and Monday. One of them, aged 31, was released “without any charges against him at this stage of the procedure”, specifies deputy public prosecutor Philippe Latgé. The second suspect, aged 25, was brought before the investigating judge on Monday. At the end of his first appearance interrogation, the suspect was indicted and placed in pre-trial detention in accordance with the prosecutor’s orders.

Furthermore, the autopsy carried out at the Montpellier Institute of Legal Medicine this Tuesday “confirmed the presence of multiple traces of violence and the criminal origin of the death” further indicates the prosecution. Although additional examinations must be carried out in order to establish more precisely the exact causes of death while the investigation continues.
