The Moroccan artistic scene in mourning: Mustapha Zaari is no more

Mustapha Zaari, an essential figure in Moroccan theater, died this Tuesday, December 3, 2024, at the age of 79, in a clinic in Casablanca. The Moroccan artistic community loses one of its great masters, after a long struggle against a serious illness.

Driss Sebti, president of the Casablanca section of the Moroccan Union of Dramatic Arts Professionals, confirmed the sad news this morning. According to him, the artist passed away at 9 a.m., leaving a void in the world of dramatic arts.

Zaari, whose career has marked generations, was recognized for his commitment and passion for theater. His contributions to the development of the artistic scene in Morocco have been essential. He has trained many young talents and inspired artists through his remarkable acting and behind-the-scenes work.

The body of Mustapha Zaari will be buried in the “Chouhada” cemetery in Casablanca, this same day, after the Al-Asr prayer. His loved ones, his fellow artists and his admirers will pay tribute to him during the ceremony.

History will remember Mustapha Zaari as one of the great pioneers of Moroccan dramatic arts, an artist whose name will forever be associated with excellence and creativity.
