The tenant “does his business in trash bags”: the toilets have been broken for two years, “the heating engineer must come soon” according to the owner – Media7
Squatters regularly make the news. Depriving owners of their property and the income it generates. But it is clear that some owners are also unscrupulous.

Pathologies, mental health…
In Pau, in the Pyrénées-Atlantiques, an affair caused a stir. In fact, a tenant sees his toilet broken. Nothing exceptional in itself. Except that, due to lack of intervention from his owner, he finds himself forced “to carry out his needs (stools) in trash bags installed at the bottom of the bowl then evacuated into the household waste containers, and is forced to urinate directly into the shower”, according to the prefectural decree dated November 11 cited by our colleagues from South West. The worst part: it’s been going on for two years. A first report was made in January 2021.
Risk side for the tenant: “various pathologies, damage to mental health, infectious pathologies”…
The prefecture thus gave the owner ten days to do what was necessary. Otherwise, the work will be orchestrated by the prefecture, and the tenant will be rehoused, all at the expense of the owner. Contacted by our colleagues from South-West, the owner – in his eighties – does not seem to be aware of the prefectural injunction. Informed of the toilet problem, “my heating engineer must come soon”, he proclaims.
