Tourist arrivals in Morocco reached more than 5.9 million people at the end of May 2024, recording an increase of 15% compared to the end of May last year, according to the Ministry of Tourism, Crafts and Industry. ‘Social and solidarity economy.

“During the first five months of 2024, Morocco will have welcomed more than 5.9 million visitors, or 772,000 additional arrivals compared to the same period in 2023, reflecting notable growth of 15%,” indicates the ministry. in a press release.

In May 2024 alone, tourism in Morocco would have continued its remarkable progression with more than 1.3 million arrivals recorded at border posts, showing a double-digit increase of 18% compared to May 2023, reports the same source.

And to specify that foreign tourists played an essential role in this development, recording an increase of 17% over the period and representing 56% of total arrivals.

For their part, Moroccans living abroad also contributed to this progression with an increase of 13%, notes the ministry.

“772,000 additional tourists in 5 months constitute an exceptional achievement for our sector. We are proud of the progress made over the last 30 months in collaboration with professionals and our partners,” said the Minister of Tourism, Crafts and the Social and Solidarity Economy, Fatim-Zahra Ammor, quoted by the communicated.

And added: “As we enter the summer season, all promotional, aerial and reception plans in tourist establishments have been carefully put in place to ensure an exceptional experience for our visitors. The tourism momentum continues, and we approach the future with confidence and determination.”
