Tourism: Travel Receipts Reached a Record MAD 105 Bln in 2023 (Ministry)

Rabat – Foreign currency travel receipts reached an all-time record of 105 billion dirhams in 2023, up 12% on 2022, according to the Ministry of Tourism, Handicrafts and the Social and Solidarity Economy.

“After record arrivals of 14.5 million tourists in 2023, it’s the turn of foreign currency travel receipts to record their all-time record of 105 billion dirhams. This represents growth of 12% compared with 2022, confirming the exceptional momentum of tourism in 2023”, says the Ministry in a statement.

“Tourism revenues in 2023 passed the 100 billion dirham mark, further confirming tourism’s position as one of the biggest foreign currency earners for our country,” said, Minister of Tourism, Handicrafts and the Social and Solidarity Economy, Fatim-Zahra Ammor, quoted in the statement.

She added: “This achievement is perfectly in line with the roadmap’s objective of reaching 120 billion dirhams by 2026, and we will continue to work on diversifying Morocco’s entertainment offering, which should contribute significantly to the increase in spending by foreign tourists”.
