Trebes: sheaths catch fire after a short circuit

This Friday in November, an electrical cable was damaged by a backhoe loader, also causing a power interruption.

It was around 1 p.m. that emergency services were called to go to the Platanes pavilion, Cité de l’Aiguille in Trèbes. A backhoe loader carrying out work accidentally cut an electrical cable, causing a short circuit in the neighboring building, Les Erables. The ducts caught fire and a large amount of smoke spread into the stairwells, also releasing a foul odor.

According to information collected from Lieutenant Nicolas Delort, head of the Trèbes emergency center, thirty people had to be evacuated, taking time to carry out the intervention and then ventilate the premises. Enedis was of course there.
At midday, the intervention continued as the firefighters carried out a long period of securing work. Firefighters who methodically checked each apartment in the Les Erables building.

No injuries were reported and the entire building was saved. On the fire side, the Trèbes fire van went to the scene, as did the one from Carcassonne, supported by the Laure-Minervois ambulance and a nurse from Carcassonne.
Yesterday, it was not certain that at the end of the day, power could be restored on site.
