President Donald Trump seemed emotional and needed some ‘comforting’ at Charlie Kirk’s funeral service, where he was scheduled to speak on Sunday. And his son, Eric, stood with him and rubbed the 79-year-old’s back, photos from the State Farm Stadium in Glendale showed. The father-son moment from the memorial quickly went viral on social media.

“Eric Trump comforts his father as he reflects on the life and legacy of the man who helped return him to the White House, keeping out of prison and allowing him to save America,” one person reacted to a photo posted by special assistant to the president and communications advisor Margo Martin.

President Trump was among the several notable speakers at Charlie Kirk’s funeral service. The event was being held in Glendale, days after the conservative activist and Turning Point USA founder was assassinated at a Utah Valley University event.
“We’re going to celebrate the life of a great man today,” Trump told reporters before heading to Arizona.

On Monday, VP JD Vance spoke about Kirk’s assassination.
“Focused anger, righteous anger, directed for a just cause is one of the most important agents of change in human history,” he said on what had been Kirk’s podcast. “And we are going to channel all of the anger that we have over the organized campaign that led to this assassination to uproot and dismantle these terrorist networks.”
